South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils now have a new home, and will move into 135 Milton Park at the beginning of June 2015.
Since the fire in January that all but destroyed the shared headquarters in Crowmarsh Gifford, around half of the staff have been working from a temporary office at Abbey House in Abingdon, with the remainder of the team based mainly from home.
Despite these problems, the councils have run all their services with minimal disruption. However, it has meant that officers have been a bit more difficult to contact than normal, but the move to get everybody under one roof at Milton Park means the councils can, once again, work more efficiently and effectively.
Once the councils have moved into the new building, the focus will be on the future of the site at Crowmarsh Gifford. Advisors will soon provide a report on the structural damage to the building, to help the councils to establish if it will be cost-effective to rebuild and move back in, or whether it would be better to look for a permanent home elsewhere.
