Great news for businesses as people in South Oxfordshire will be able to take advantage of the traditional free parking days again this year in the run up to Christmas.
Drivers will be able to park for free in South Oxfordshire District Council car parks on the following days this December:
- Didcot – every Tuesday
- Goring – every Saturday
- Henley – every Tuesday
- Thame – every Saturday
- Wallingford – every Thursday.
The annual free parking tradition is provided by the district council to encourage people to shop locally for their Christmas presents.
Free parking days are agreed with the individual town councils depending on which day would best suit local traders. 2015 marks the first year that parking will be free for an entire day each week, in previous years local councils had the option of choosing either a morning or afternoon.
Cllr Robert Simister, Cabinet Member for Property, Economic Development, Technical Services and Community Safety at South Oxfordshire District Council, said: “Traditional free Christmas parking is always very popular in South Oxfordshire. This year we’re allowing people to park for free for the entire day.
“Hopefully many will take advantage of this, not only to do their shopping locally but also to enjoy a meal at one of our independent cafes or restaurants.”
On the above days there’s no need to display a ticket.
