Pop-up shop initiative to launch in Wallingford

Local people and small businesses are to get the chance to run their own shop in Wallingford.

South Oxfordshire District Council and Wallingford Town Council are working with Flashop UK to bring a pop-up shop initiative to the centre of Wallingford between April and October 2015.

The pop-up shop will provide people with an opportunity to take a short term commercial lease which will give them a taste of running a town centre shop. It will be a great chance to trial ideas and products to a new audience while helping to attract more people to visit their local high street.

It is hoped that this project will help start-up retail businesses, people who are presently retailing from home and would like to try running a shop, and existing shop keepers who would like to try Wallingford out as a possible location for their business.

The project will be supported by Kate Rayner, Wallingford market town co-ordinator, who provides promotional and marketing support for the town to support it as a place to live, work, visit and invest.

Kate Rayner, Market Town Co-ordinator for Wallingford, said: “Anyone who would like to take up this fantastic retail opportunity in Wallingford town centre should get in touch. We’re really looking for new and exciting ideas that wish to find and new audience and also to help generate interest in the town and bring more people to shop locally.”
