Science Vale UK, one of the most important science based clusters in Europe, has produced an online video to encourage businesses to relocate to South Oxfordshire.
The video promotes the ground breaking scientific research and development companies and community that’s already in place, and features business leaders from organisations based in Harwell, Culham and Milton Park, talking about the benefits of living and working in Science Vale UK.
You can watch the video by visiting the Science Vale website.
Science Vale UK was one of the first recipients of Enterprise Zone status in 2012, designated areas across England that provide tax breaks and Government support, including help with planning, business rates discounts and support to roll out superfast broadband. For this reason they are perfect places to do business, especially for both new and expanding firms.
Science Vale’s activities are concentrated around the three centres for science at Harwell Campus, Culham Science Centre, and Milton Park, but is supported by a number of important settlements including Didcot, Wantage and Grove. Culham Science Centre is the focal point for the European fusion research programme and the Joint European Torus (JET). Harwell Campus is building a reputation as a centre for physical and life sciences. Milton Park is expanding to welcome innovative biological and medical science businesses.
Science Vale UK is also home to the Williams F1 Race Team and its advanced engineering division. All of their race derived technology is commercialised in the area. Research and innovation is driving dynamic local spin-out companies’ to international success and attracting global companies, such as De Beers Element Six at Harwell.
Science Vale UK resources include testing facilities, manufacturing accommodation and support for future commercialisation, including The Satellite Applications Catapult, Diamond Light Source, ISIS Pulsed Neutron and Muon Source, and UK Space Gateway.
SO Business has pledged to address the issue of skills. Didcot’s University Technical College, Abingdon College and other STEM Key Stage 4 providers work closely with the established high value science and engineering businesses in Science Vale, ensuring well trained apprentices for future roles in the area.
