New figures from Invest in Oxfordshire, a service from Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP), show an unprecedented number of businesses choosing Oxfordshire as their base over the past year.
Invest in Oxfordshire is an inward investment service, supporting businesses with a range of tools, including help to find commercial premises, staff relocation, recruitment, training and making connections with other businesses.
Over the last year, Invest in Oxfordshire, together with other inward investment partners, has created or safeguarded over 1,600 jobs in the county with more than 100 businesses. The types of jobs created show that the county is strong in many different sectors. A quarter of these jobs were in the automotive and advanced engineering sector, followed by a sixth in each of tourism and leisure, life sciences and retail business sectors.
The majority of this success has resulted from expansion, with one in two businesses growing and nearly a third of the jobs credited to new start-ups in Oxfordshire.
