Congratulations to all the Young Enterprise companies who attended the South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse Area Final at Abingdon School last night.
The competition is aimed at school age children and organised by Young Enterprise, a UK charity that for over 50 years has sought to empower young people to harness their personal and business skills.
The South and Vale Economic Development Team were among the judges who had the incredibly tough task of choosing two winners, to be put through to the County Final at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School on Thursday 5th May.
The companies were required to produce a report in advance of the finals evening, then set up a trade stand and produce a four minute presentation on the night.
The companies are:
Afterglow, a team representing Our Lady’s School, Abingdon.
Ignite, representing Cranford House, Moulsford.
Equity and Rethink, both representing St Helen and St Katherine, Abingdon.
Finally, three companies formed from Abingdon School, Tetra Accessories, Wabi-Sabi and KASA.
After much deliberation, the two eventual winners were chosen in no particular order. The teams progressing to the final were Afterglow, and Wabi-Sabi.
Afterglow produce fun products made from upcycled materials such as old records and cassettes, converting them into lights and coin holders.
Wabi-Sabi produced an innovative cookbook aimed at teenagers, titled ‘Hungry All The Time’.
Both teams’ trade stands can be seen below.
Good luck to both teams, at the Young Enterprise County Final on May 5th.
